The Croton Community Coalition, nationally-recognized for its innovative approach to proactively keeping Croton teens safe and drug free, is sharing an original marijuana education comic strip in CHAP sessions at Croton Harmon High School starting March 17 and in 8th grade health classes over the next several weeks.
The group teamed up with youth motivational speaker and stand-up comedian Matt Bellace and nationally syndicated cartoonist Doug Bratton to create a “buzz” about the effects of teen marijuana use. Students will read the comic strips, and with the use of a QR code, access additional online information about the effects of marijuana on everything from motor skills to memory. The information appears on the Coalition’s new website, launched last month, www.crotoncoalition.com. Students who read all the comic strips and access the short informational piece on the Coalition website will have a chance to win a tablet after they answer a fact-based question. Parents are encouraged to discuss and follow the campaign with their children and visit the website.
