Marijuana Had the Largest Illicit Drug Use Initiation in 2016

A new report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reveals that 2.6 million people aged 12 or older in 2016 tried marijuana for the first time in the past year. Only about a third of people aged 12 or older perceived great risk of harm from weekly marijuana use. When asked, 44.7 percent of youth aged 12 to 17 reported that it would be fairly easy or very easy to obtain marijuana. (more…)
